Location

Bigland, near Newby Bridge, south Lake District, Cumbria, in the North West of England.

Parking will be in fields around the Bigland Estate.

Public transport

Stagecoach run a bus, the X6, which runs from Kendal to Barrow, stopping at Haverthwaite railway station.

This is at the bottom of the Bigland slope and is between 20-30min walk uphill to Assembly depending on your fitness.

At the time of writing (January) there is only one Sunday early bus which arrives at Haverthwaite at 08:16.

Terrain

Bigland woods are typical Lake District terrain with a wealth of contour detail and many rock features.
